Restaurants

Bring your appetite

Downtown Plainfield is home to a dozen restaurants, all within walking distance from the Inn, and most with al fresco dining in the warmer months.

Just a sweet tooth?  Head over to Hazel Marie's Ice Cream Parlor for an old fashoned ice cream cone.

Shops

BRING HOME A SOUVENIR

From cute home goods to unique clothing stores, Lockport Street has a lot to offer.

Business

Here for a business meeting?

If you are here for a business meeting and need a location to meet, the Downtown area has several options that all have WiFi.

(Mostly) Mornings/Afternoon

If you prefer a morning meeting with a strong cup of coffee, we have two great locations.

If you are looking for something local to try, stop over at Ten Drops Coffee Lab. They are an independent, specialty coffee shop that has the locals attention!

It is a little farther than downtown, but still very walk-able on a nice day. However, it is across Route 59, so use the light to cross at Lockport Street and take a walk down Bartlett Street in the East Historic District to get there.

If you prefer to stick with what you know, head over to Starbucks for a cup of coffee or an evening brew... best to take the historic route to this one as well- they are at the corner of Route 59 and Route 126.

Afternoon/Evenings

Wine and Cheese by TCC has a quiet, relaxed atmosphere for a meeting. Enjoy hand picked artisan cheeses, small meal plates and a glass of wine or craft beer. Conduct your meeting at the front window while you people watch or enjoy the seasonal lights or use the back of the room for when you need more space to spread out.

Meeting with someone who likes espresso, you want a glass of wine?  No problem. Our Starbucks  is a 'Starbucks Evenings' location and will serve you a glass of wine or craft beer for an evening meeting while you discuss the next day's plans with your colleagues.

Parades, Fests & Events

Celebrations in Plainfield

Plainfield has the best blend of a small hometown feel and amenities. The downtown area is quaint and inviting with shops, restaurants and businesses to be explored.  The residents host annual fests including Plainfield Fest and Brew Fest. People line the downtown area twice a year- in the spring for the Irish Parade and in the fall for the Homecoming Parade. You can feel the pride Plainfield takes in it's community.

Are you a runner? There are multiple 5Ks hosted in Plainfield every year. Don't have anyone to run with? Come run with me!

Usually the week before Halloween, the downtown area hosts Spooktacular. Bring your little one to this event in his/her costume for some trick or treating fun and a costume contest..

The Plainfield Chamber of Commerce hosts a Candelight Christmas event each year that includes pictures with Santa, sleigh rides, crafts, dance performances, writing letters to Santa, and a crèche lighting.

Entertainment

Looking for SOMETHING to do?

Scroll down for specific upcoming events to join or read on for some ideas...

Every town has their night life.  Is it Cinco de Mayo? There is sure to be a fun time at one of the two Mexican restaurants in town. Is it Marti Gras or Fat Tuesday? Head over to Moe Joes for some gumbo.

Are you a motorcycle buff? Call up CJ Vintage and request a tour of their downtown shop to see what vintage motorcycle they are currently working on.

Outdoor enthusiast? Lake Renwick Preserve (Turtle Lake access) isn't downtown, but it is just a little over a mile east on Lockport Street. Walk/run/bike the trails, enjoy bird watching or fish in Budde Lake.  Or, just steps from our front door is the Village Green with a tennis court and basketball court.  There's also a play ground and splash pad for the little ones.

If you bring your canoe or kayak, the DuPage River is just a couple blocks away with a great place to launch through Electric Park.

The Village of Plainfield hosts a concert in the park and a movie in the park several times a year over the warmer months at Settler's Park. Settlers park also "features the Richard A. Rock Amphitheater, a History Walk, a restored War Monument, a lake, open space, a picnic shelter, playground/tot lot, and walking trails".

The Plainfield Public Library has more than books to read. They host events several times a week. Sometimes it's a movie and critique, or a crocheting group, or an "appy' hour discussion about apps to try.

Weekdays

Wine and Cheese by TCC hosts a (usually) complimentary wine tasting every Tuesday in the summer and every Thursday in the fall/winter and every saturday year round.

Art Cube Studios hosts creative classes during the week. If you are an artist who needs some space to spread out and create while you are here, they rent space! Contact them to see if they have room available.

Warehouse 109 hosts events during the week. The most recent addition are their Yoga at the Warehouse nights.

Cruise Nights close down Lockport Street every Tuesday night from late May to late August. Walk through the historic downtown area while admiring beautiful automobiles you won't see everyday.

Weekends

Plainfield's Farmer's Market is hosted in the plaza at the corner of Route 59 and Fort Beggs from June to September on Saturdays from 9 am-1 pm.

Wine and Cheese by TCC hosts a Brunch & Bubbly every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you are here on the weekend and you like distilled spirits, visit the tasting room at Tailwinds Distilling Co. Or better yet, schedule a 30(ish) min. Saturday tour; you can walk through the East Historic District on your way, located across Route 59.
